Event Recap: 1 9 9 4 Magazine Release Party

This weekend we got to celebrate @1994mag’s 1st Magazine Issue Release at Hardware Studio. RP Boo, Mndsgn, Ras G,  5 Chuckles. Cakedog (AKA Ahnnu) and various DJs, including Low Limit all played.  And the studio was filled with all the cool kids including J Rocc and Gaslamp Killer who were also in attendance.

1 9 9 4 is a platform for artists to explore the relationship between visual art and sound. They are a bi-annual zine that doubles as a quarterly event. Their mission is to celebrate the many subcultures within music and dance while expressing what we hear and feel in a visual manifestation. The first issue of 1994 spotlights the Footwork and Juke movement with in-depth photo stories of Battlegroundz and Chicago-based crew, Teklife as well as Los Angeles based artists and musicians. 1994 is 64 pages of ad-free 100 lb gloss coated paper.

Snoop Dogg’s 200th Episode of GGN Featuring Will.i.Am

WestFestTV premiered Snoop Dogg’s 200th consecutive episode of his weekly news show GGN. The milestone episode featured fellow tech influencer and renowned musical artist, Will.i.Am. The two longtime friends reminisced about Will.i.Am’s journey from an East LA freestyle competitor and ghostwriter for Eazy-E to the legendary producer he is now. Watch as Snoop and Will sing songs from the past and talk about what’s new in technology. Also, see if you can spot some of the celebrity shout outs congratulating Snoop on his GGN success.

GEICO Re-Invents YouTube Pre-Roll Commercials

Skip the pre-roll video as soon as you can, that’s what most of us do when we want to watch videos on YouTube. Sometimes we don’t even get to find out what the clip was advertising. That has been a big challenge for brands and agencies when trying to build content for their YouTube advertising strategies. How do you capture the attention of an audience and get them to not skip the video?

Well, I can’t believe no one thought of this before, but Geico created a series of pre-roll videos that get straight to the point, and add some humor along the way. Check out the two extended cut examples below.
